The six year old jazz piano prodigy, Sugar Chile Robinson appears with 8 year old drummer Joey Preston & Lionel Hampton's Orchestra on the Phantom Dancer, this Tuesday, Feb 5 - in a Jubilee Show from Hollywood in 1946.
Plus 90 minutes of jazz, dance & swing from live 1920s-60s radio & TV including a rare aircheck of Abe Romain's Orchestra from Sydney's Trocadero around 1943

Australia's longest-running Swing Show. On-air since 1985 and 2007 CBAA Best Music Show Award winner. Swing, jazz & dance from live 1920s - 60s radio & TV. This week's highlight is a 15 minute mix of unusual instruments in broadcast popular music. We hear a Hammond B3 from WJSV Washington in 1939, a Steinway grand (not so unusual) for a cheese company in 1948, celeste and harpsichord on a swing record from Berlin in 1941, and moody oboe, bell and theremin to close an episode of Suspence from 1946. So today's Phantom Dancer will open with a bracket of cartoon songs from live 1930s radio broadcasts and radio transcriptions, including 'The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down' , 'I Like to Sing-a', 'The Old Man of the Mountain' (Betty Boop) and 'Powerhouse' (Bugs Bunny, Ren & Stimpy and many more).
